Lyrics:
High o'er the hills the mountains rise
Their summits tow'r toward the skies
But far above them I must dwell
Or sink beneath the flames of hell

Notes:
From the old Southern Harmony (shape note) hymnal, this William "Singing Billy" Walker song was written in the fall of 1831. While traveling over the mountains on the French Broad River in western North Carolina, the author was inspired to write this haunting memoir of his experience down the river's white water. It is commonly sung in the mountain churches wherever the shape-note tradition survives..

The Musicians:
Lead Vocal: Mary Miller
Guitar: Mary Miller
Mandolin: Tony Williamson
String Bass: Robbie Link
