Description of Music: Spokandolin is a mandolin orchestra patterned on the mandolin groups that once were very popular across America. We use the full range of mandolins from the tenor up to the large mando-cello. Our orchestra performs a variety of pieces that have been arranged specifically for the voicing of the mandolin, and a typical concert might include some Beatles, Chopin, Brazilian choros, and an ancient Carolan aire. Because several of our member players come from Bluegrass backgrounds, a Spokandolin concert might also feature an upbeat interlude.
Dan Gore has been active in the bluegrass and contra-dance music of Spokane for over sixteen years. He currently performs with the South Hill Ramblers band. Dan’s primary instrument is the mandolin. He has a CD of original music in the market and many live performances behind him. Dan records for Elephant Rock Records
Sound Equipment: A small club-sized system will be used where sound reinforcement is necessary.
